Riding the Emotional Waves

We live in a world that expects constant positivity. You’re supposed to “look on the bright side,” and “keep going", even when you're feeling completely overwhelmed. But what if I told you... it’s okay to pause? To feel off, or even kind of broken?

Because I’ve been there. A lot. There are days where I wake up with a weight on my chest I can’t explain. Or when everything around me feels blurry, like I’m floating through my own life but not really in it. And in those moments, I’ve learned to stop judging myself for feeling low.

The truth is that emotions come in waves. Some are peaceful ripples, and others hit hard and pull you under for a bit. But every wave eventually reaches the shore. What matters most is how you ride it.

So here’s a reminder, from someone who gets it:

  • You are allowed to have off days.

  • You don’t need a reason to feel what you feel.

  • You are not falling behind just because you’re tired.

  • You’re not broken, you’re just human.

When you’re in that space, I hope you let yourself lean into something kind. Sometimes that means a song that understands you. Sometimes it means lying in bed with nothing on but white noise. Sometimes it means texting a friend “Hey... can we talk?” and sometimes, it just means letting yourself cry without having to explain it.

So if today feels hard, let it be hard. You don’t have to rush your way through it. Just hit play, take a breath, and know that this feeling will pass, like it always does.

Say this out loud if you need to: “I’m doing my best. That’s enough today.”

You’re never alone.
